87.5% pure · 21/24 · hallmarked 87521K is 87.5% gold, stamped 875, and it is the Middle East's own standard — uncommon in Europe or America, dominant from Cairo to Kuwait. The extra alloy over 22K buys enough hardness for daily wear while keeping the warm yellow that reads as gold rather than as pale metal.
It is the karat most Arab jewellers quote first, and the one most likely to be in the window with a per-gram price on a card. If you are comparing shops in this region, comparing their 21K gram price is the closest thing to a like-for-like test, because nearly all of them carry it.
